Paradise 2016

For 5 years Traveling Natures has been deployed between France and the island of Java in Indonesia. It is animated by questions related to the story, to micro-communities and their concrete actions in the environment. During its various exhibitions, it is through representation and ritual objects that the dimensions of the sacred and the profane are expressed.

Invited in residence by the artists Béatrice Dacher and Michel Gerson at the Paradise gallery in Nantes from September to December 2016, for three months, we transformed the gallery into a permanent creation site and developed the first phase of our Agile Cluster project, a portable architectural utopian project device which combines the functions of the habitat, the boat and the semaphore.

During these months of residence, several moments of meetings took place which punctuated our time of creation.

À l'occasion de leur exposition Travelling Natures, Le collectif Ding présente la trilogie javanaise qui rassemble les trois vidéos que les deux artistes ont réalisées entre la France et l'Indonésie de 2013 à 2015. Inspirées d'un grand récit javanais les vidéos traversent les dimensions du rêve, du réel et de la mythologie.

Depuis 5 ans Travelling Natures s’est déployé entre la France et l’île de Java en Indonésie. Il est animé par des questions liées au récit, aux micro-communautés et leurs actions concrètes dans l’environnement. Lors de ses différentes expositions, c’est au travers de la représentation et des objets rituels que s’énnoncent les dimensions du sacré et du profane.

Invités en résidence par les artistes Béatrice Dacher et Michel Gerson à la galerie Paradise à Nantes de septembre à décembre 2016, nous avons, durant trois mois, transformé la galerie en chantier de création permanente et développé la première phase de notre projet Agile Cluster, un dispositif de projet utopique architectural portatif qui hybride les fonctions de l'habitat, du bateau et du sémaphore.

Durant ces mois de résidence, se sont déroulés plusieurs moments de rencontres qui ont rythmé notre temps de création.

On the occasion of their Traveling Natures exhibition, The Ding collective presents the Javanese trilogy which brings together the three videos that the two artists made between France and Indonesia from 2013 to 2015. Inspired by a great Javanese story, the videos cross the dimensions of dream, reality and mythology.

Expérimentation sonore et musicale réalisée à partir d'un extrait du texte javanais « Le livre de Centhini » établi en version française par Elisabeth D. Inandiak.
Cebolang, jeune prince errant à la recherche du gai savoir et de conscience de soi part, vagabond céleste, sur les chemins de l'île de Java. Ses rencontres sont légions : grand magicien, femme ouléma, montreurs d'ombres, danseur réog, opiomane... tous instruisent le jeune homme et le révèlent à lui-même.

Les deux artistes du collectif Ding se sont associés à Jean-Marc Saint-Paul, musicien, bassiste et designer graphique vivant et travaillant à Pau.

Sound and musical experimentation made from an extract from the Javanese text "Le livre de Centhini" established in French by Elisabeth D. Inandiak.
Cebolang, young prince wandering in search of cheerful knowledge and self-awareness, celestial vagabond, on the roads of the island of Java. His encounters are legion: great magician, woman oulema, shadow showers, reog dancer, opium addict ... all instruct the young man and reveal him to himself.

The two artists of the Ding collective have teamed up with Jean-Marc Saint-Paul, musician, bassist and graphic designer living and working in Pau.

La Braderie Olé Olé est un dispositif d'économie contributive qui vise à augmenter la capacité de production du Collectif. Lyn Nékorimaté met en vente les fleurons de sa garde robe constituée depuis les années 80.
Pour célébrer l'occasion elle invite le duo toulousain Lassie à perforer les tympans des amateurs de prêt à porter féminin.

The Olé Olé Braderie is a contributory economy system which aims to increase the production capacity of the Collective. Lyn Nékorimaté is selling the flagships of her wardrobe, which has been around since the 80s.
To celebrate the occasion, she invites the Toulouse duo Lassie to perforate the eardrums of lovers of female ready-to-wear.

"Pas encore traversée" est un laboratoire exposé qui marque les prémices et préparatifs du départ en voyage mais aussi de ses conditions d'attente qui mettent en tension désir et impuissance, fantasme et réalité. Intéressé par les questions de l'habitat nomade dans des contextes environnementaux et humains difficiles, notre collectif met en chantier dans la Galerie Paradise la réalisation d'un Agile Cluster, une architecture mobile promise à plusieurs situations de vie et de travail en France et en Indonésie. Son baptême sera organisé le jour de sa mise à l'eau prochainement.

Ce projet a été sélectionné par la commission mécénat de la Fondation Nationale des Arts Graphiques et Plastiques qui lui a apporté son soutien.

Ce projet a reçu le soutien de la FNAGP, DRAC Aquitaine, Telenco Entreprise et la galerie Paradise.

From September to December 2016

"Pas encore traversée" is an exposed laboratory which marks the beginnings and preparations for the departure for the trip but also for its waiting conditions which bring tension into desire and helplessness, fantasy and reality. Interested in the questions of nomadic housing in difficult environmental and human contexts, our collective is starting work in the Galerie Paradise to create an Agile Cluster, a mobile architecture promised to several life and work situations in France and in Indonesia. Its baptism will be organized the day of its launching soon.

This project was selected by the patronage commission of the National Foundation of Graphic and Plastic Arts which gave it its support.

This project received support from the FNAGP, DRAC Aquitaine, Telenco Entreprise and the Paradise gallery.
